WORKPLACE

Our founders, Ben Daniel and Cody Simonsen, both drew upon first-hand experiences
when establishing 5 Star Interpreting with one goal in mind: communication access for all.

ASL interpreting

5 Star Interpreting is proudly run by the Deaf community, for the Deaf community. We coordinate and schedule qualified interpreters that work with Deaf people so they shine in the workplace. All interpreters are both knowledgeable and experienced in business communications.

JOB INTERVIEWS

Providing a qualified workplace ASL interpreter is essential (and required) when interviewing a job candidate who is Deaf. It isn’t enough to bring an employee or family member with basic knowledge in ASL to the interview, you’ll need to bring in an interpreter with the right certifications and qualifications.

A qualified interpreter will have the vocabulary, training, and experience necessary to facilitate communication between both the candidate and the interviewer(s). When an interpreter isn’t properly qualified, they might not know how to interpret industry jargon or how to accurately represent the job candidate. If the interpreter isn’t qualified, it can be difficult to tell whether a job candidate is unqualified for a position or if they are simply being misinterpreted.

COMPANY TRAINING

Regular training is a vital part of employee education and development. In the case of safety training, understanding the information can be crucial to an employee’s well-being. When your Deaf employee(s) has an equal opportunity to learn from and participate in these trainings, both they and the company will benefit.

The qualified interpreters 5 Star Interpreting work with have the knowledge and experience necessary to communicate not only the words that are said but accurately convey the meaning behind them. This allows Deaf employees to participate in training and know they are being heard.

EMPLOYEE COMMUNICATIONS

If a position requires a lot of face-to-face communication, an ASL interpreter may be needed on a more regular basis. Even if the position is fairly independent or relies more on digital conversation tools like email or chat, interpreters are often necessary for meetings and other forms of day-to-day communication.

Workspace ASL interpreters are trained to professionally facilitate communication without disrupting the flow of business.

When everyone has access to the same information, your business will run smoothly. If you need an interpreter for your business or workplace in Utah or Illinois, request a qualified workplace ASL interpreter from 5 Star Interpreting to get started.
